Life's Not A Montage...More's The Pity.

So - battery in the scales. Reveals the following, depressing but understandable, data:

Weight at start of project:
20 Stone, 7.5 pounds - or 287.5 pounds.

Wow, that's a lot of pounds. Pretty much what I expected though.
So - again, the idea is to lose 104 of those pounds.

Target weight by this time, one year from now:
183.5 pounds.

Blink...
Blink, blink...

My normal instinct is kicking in - I grew up in the 80s, watching 80s movies, where everything used to change completely, stunningly, in the space of one kick-ass rock ballad montage. So there's something in me that makes me want to run through the streets of Philadelphia, like Rocky, or dance about in my underwear, like Tom Cruise (not an image many of you will appreciate, I'm sure), or jump on a gym-bike till I'm horrid and sweaty and have that sudden short burst of effort be representative of a whole year's long, slow, patient, grinding, undoubtedly bloody boring effort. My natural instinct is to do that, and skip to the next scene, looking better, feeling better, ready for new adventures.

But life's not a montage (lying buggers, those 80s movies!). So...let the long path begin.
